How You Can Cope With The Disorder
Posted on Saturday, September 7, 2013 by Azizkhan Pathan
The treatment of depression must take into account the main cause of depression , which is a chemical imbalance in the brain. Depression treatment usually targets this imbalance and tries to correct it. However, doctors realize that depression treatment can often have side effects as the medication is strong. A study in Canada found that the bones of patients undergoing depression treatment were less dense than others, leading to brittle bones. Therefore a combination of conventional medicine, alternative treatment , and good nutrition are recommended for the effective treatment of depression
If you are suffering from depression or you know someone who is suffering from this psychological illness, then first thing you need to do or advice the person to make adjustment to his/her current lifestyle. You must not isolate yourself, mingle with others because the more you isolate yourself the bigger the problem would become, and stick to a day to day exercise plan or program. And slowly challenge the negative thoughts that are running through your head. And try to make your personality as strong as you can be, always think positive and happy thoughts and try to avoid those negative thoughts so that depression won't come back.
One of the most depression -inducing problems associated with chronic pain, especially if it is moderate to severe, is the loss of independence - having to depend on others to help you live your life every day. Coupled with this may be a loss of a job and social connections as a by-product of constant pain. Working with a pain specialist can put you in contact with social workers and community resources. Together they can assess your home environment for whatever equipment and set ups you may need to assist you in getting around more easily.
The type of treatment that you choose depends on a number of factors. The first important factor to consider is the assumed cause of the depression. If you have suffered traumatic experiences that lead to your depression, you may want to incorporate individual therapy. A therapist can not only listen to you and try to help you develop strong coping skills, but can also assist in shifting your mind toward positive thinking. Positive input into the brain can help to rid you of some of the negative thoughts. Additionally, a therapist can teach you special breathing techniques that can work to relieve the stress that you feel during depressive episodes.
